The city itself now has a history of nearly 800 years, and this historical atmosphere is reflected in many streets, streets, squares, customs and events. The many bourgeois houses, and some of the peasant buildings that have survived, tell about old times and show the city’s sparkling life. One of the oldest and most symbolic buildings in Gyula is the 600-year-old castle that Central Europe was the only flat Gothic brick castle. The building has long hosted a small museum, and its ruined walls are just a few traces of a robust building that has lived up to the time, but it has not come to any other utilization and transformation than many other monuments. It was thus preserved that he completed a new life after his renovation in 2005. There are now 24 showrooms, with exhibitions of the ages of the day, with period furniture and, thanks to the costumed guided tours, from time to time entertaining even the characters of the castle.

The castle, of course, is not only an exhibition space: in addition to museum events, in summer, nearly half a century, the Gyula Castle Theater, one of the most prestigious Hungarian summer theaters, offers an unforgettable experience for all ages, from drama to jazz and blues music to puppet performances. Recently, the Almássy-Wencheim Castle, which faces the castle, is home to events, which – although it can not be visited at other times – is a great venue for relaxation.

Located in Gyulavári district, only 6 to 7 kilometers from the city center, the Wenckheim-Almássy Castle in Gyulavári built in the 18th century. The purpose of this visitor center is to showcase the values of the South Great Plain in cultural, natural, environmental and economic areas. With its 18 different themed exhibitions, a wide range of colorful and colorful programs, a rich and memorable pastime for all ages from toddlers to the elderly, it is worth a short trip to the collection.

The time travel, of course, is another time, as in the Hundred Years of Confectionery and in the Ladics House right next to it, you can look back to civilian times, but the Erkel Memorial House in the German town also gives a similar experience. Ferenc Erkel, our hymn’s composer, was born in this house, and the exhibition hall was renewed in 2011 for the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of his birth, so he is now an interactive, sight-seeing and music-rich, contemporary, yet all-modern show.
Visiting the museum is not everything. Our city has been facing a serious task since 2005: the transformation of the heart of the city became inevitable, and the works really required great patience from every citizen and guest. The result was many thanks to the fact that the inner city was mainly made by pedestrians more livable, more friendly, more hospitable and safer. Nowadays, the most beautiful Mediterranean pavilion is the pedestrian walkway, which has been liberated from the concrete, with a floral ruin, many fountains, and the inviting sights of restaurants luring the enthusiasts of walks. In the heatless hours, many people are eager to visit, watch out for the time and watch a comfortable chair with a good drink or meal. Summer evenings entertaining programs thrill around the busy life, around the world clock music and dancing will heat the mood then ‘every weekend.
Those who prefer silence, peace, we also offer something else.
